The Swedish government’s application to extend the tax exemption for highly blended biofuels has been approved by the European Commission.

The decision means that B100 Biodiesel RME and HVO100, which are not covered by the reduction obligation, can continue to be tax-exempt in Sweden also during 2022.

The decision contributes to the development towards more sustainable transport and to make Sweden less dependent on fossil fuels.

The government intends to continue its work within the EU so that biofuels, even after 2022, can be favored over fossil alternatives.
